Protocol unlocks housing project
The affordable housing project planned for the municipality of Lagoa has made decisive progress following the signing of a cooperation protocol aimed at strengthening the public wastewater sanitation system. This agreement made it possible to overcome one of the main technical obstacles that had been limiting the development of the project, creating the necessary conditions to complete the subdivision approval process.
Improving the sanitation infrastructure is considered essential to ensure the environmental and urban planning viability of the project, guaranteeing that the new supply of affordable housing meets legal requirements and the needs of the local population.
Addressing the housing shortage in the Algarve
Affordable housing is playing an increasingly important role in the Algarve, a region heavily pressured by rising property prices and a shortage of supply for permanent residents. The project provides for the construction of 304 apartments and 20 plots for houses, contributing to the expansion of housing supply at controlled prices.
This initiative seeks to respond to the difficulties faced by families, young people and workers who encounter obstacles in accessing affordable housing, promoting greater social and territorial balance in the municipality of Lagoa.
Strong interest in affordable solutions
The affordable housing project has already registered more than 250 expressions of interest, reflecting the growing demand for residential solutions compatible with the region’s average income levels. This level of interest demonstrates the importance of developing structured and sustainable projects that guarantee access to housing without compromising urban quality.
The strategic location and integration with essential infrastructure further reinforce the positive impact of affordable housing on local economic and social development.
Next phases of the development
With the technical conditions now in place, the project is entering the final stage of subdivision approval. This will be followed by the start of infrastructure works, a fundamental step towards beginning construction and, subsequently, the commercialization of the units.
This progress consolidates affordable housing as a strategic priority for the municipality of Lagoa, contributing to a long-term solution for access to housing and to retaining the resident population in the Algarve.
